Michael Morgan AO
Professor Michael Morgan is a cerebrovascular neurosurgeon. He is Professor of Cerebrovascular Neurosurgery at Macquarie University. Professor Morgan trained in Sydney and the Mayo Clinic. He was appointed the first full Professor in Neurosurgery of the University of Sydney in 1998 and the first Dean of Medicine at Macquarie University (2006-2010). Professor Morgan was the Vice President, Health and Medical development, at Macquarie University (2010-2014). Professor Morgan is an internationally recognised neurosurgeon for aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations and complex reconstruction of the arteries of the brain. He has operated on more cerebrovascular cases than any other neurosurgeon in Australia with more than 2,000 aneurysms and 700 arteriovenous malformations (AVMs). He retired from surgery in June 2014 but continues to work with the team of cerebrovascular neursurgeons at Macquarie and continues with research.

Dr Nazih Assaad completed his medical degrees in 1993 and graduated from the University of Sydney with honours. His internship and early post graduate training were at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital followed by training and research in Neurosurgery at the Childrens Hospital at Westmead. His advanced Neurosurgery training included posts at Westmead, John Hunter and Royal North Shore Hospitals. During this time he underwent subspecialty training in Cerebrovascular Neurosurgery.

Dr Davidson graduated from University of Queensland in 1994, and served as a Medical Officer in the Royal Australian Navy until 2002, where he attained the rank of Surgeon Lieutenant-Commander. He then undertook Neurosurgical specialisation, training at Royal North Shore Hospital, John Hunter Hospital, The Childrens Hospital at Westmead, and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. In 2005, Dr Davidson was awarded the John Loewenthal Medal for his research on dural arteriovenous malformations, and graduated with the degree of Master of Surgery from University of Sydney in 2006. He was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and commenced practice in 2008. Dr Davidson's current research interest involves safety and efficacy in the management of brain arteriovenous malformations.

Dr Fuller graduated from the University of New
South Wales in 1987. He undertook neurosurgical training in Sydney at the
Prince of Wales, Sydney Childrens and Royal Prince Alfred Hospitals obtaining his
RACS Fellowship in Neurosurgery in 1996. Since obtaining his fellowship he has
been practicing in Canberra managing all aspects of cerebral, spinal and
peripheral nerve surgery.
A strong involvement with neurosurgical
education has been maintained by his position on the RACS Board of Neurosurgery
and the Board of the Neurosurgical Society of Australasia for the past 10
years. He has been directly involved with neurosurgical training of the Royal
Australasian College of Surgeons as a consultant and Clinical Director of
Neurosurgery at The Canberra Hospital. Medical student teaching has been
through the postgraduate medical schools the University of Sydney and
subsequently the Australian National University.
Dr Fuller has joined Macquarie Neurosurgery to
combine his sub-specialty interest in surgical neuro-oncology with radiosurgery
as Neurosurgical Director of the Gamma Knife Surgery Program. This is in
addition to maintaining his expertise in complex spinal surgery, including
spinal oncology.
He is a member of the Neurosurgical Society of
Australasia and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons
Tim Siu
Dr Siu received his medical
degree from the University of Sydney and his doctorate in visual neuroscience
from the University of New South Wales.After completing his neurosurgery training in Sydney, Dr Siu joined the
fellowship program at MD Anderson Cancer Center in the USA where he received
subspecialty training in the management of brain, spine and peripheral nerve
tumours. His clinical expertise includes awake surgery, multimodal imaging and
electrophysiology guided surgery for eloquent brain and spinal surgery for
degenerative and malignant disease. He is currently appointed as a Clinical
Senior Lecturer at the Australian School of Advanced Medicine at Macquarie
University.

Dr Behzad Eftekhar completed his neurosurgical training in Tehran
University in 1995. After serving for two years as a consultant neurosurgeon,
he joined the department of neurosurgery in Sina Hospital at the Tehran
University. He obtained his Master of Public health in 2003. During his 9 years
academic career at the Tehran University he was awarded the position of
Clinical Associate Professor of Neurosurgery.
In 2006 Dr Eftekhar migrated to Australia and undertook further Australasian
neurosurgical experience in Royal Hobart Hospital, Sir Charles Gairdner
Hospital (Perth) and Dunedin Hospital (New Zealand). In 2009, he was admitted
as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.He underwent subspecialty training in
Cerebrovascular Neurosurgery at Macquarie University in 2010. Dr Eftekhar has
published over 30 peer-reviewed papers.
